Here’s Our Story

Holland Brown Books was founded in Louisville, Kentucky by Gill Holland and Augusta Brown Holland, with the help of Stephanie Kertis in 2008. With a diverse variety of texts ranging from children’s books to history books, Holland Brown Books speaks to all ages. We strive to inspire our community with a collection of what makes our city so special. With titles such as The Nearly Forgotten History of Portland, Kentucky to Louisville Colors!, you can be sure that you’re taking part in reading intriguing works of literature. Carmichael's Bookstore

Carmichael’s Bookstore was founded 40 years ago in 1978 by Carol Besse and Michael Boggs. Carmichael is a combination of their first names and has been a community staple since its relocation in 1983. The titles offered in the stores are handpicked by the owners and in 2013, the couple’s daughters took over the family business. There are two locations, one at 1295 Bardstown Rd. Revelry Boutique

Revelry is a boutique that showcases handpicked art, home decor, photography, and prints. The mission of Revelry is to shed light on Louisville’s unique art scene by exhibiting both more well known and up and coming artists, while also striving to make art accessible to everyone. Louisville Visitor's Center

Louisville Visitor’s Center is a go to shop for all Louisville memorabilia. Celebrating the aspects of Louisville that make it special, the visitor’s center has clothing, accessories, artwork, cups, and even exhibits that highlight Louisville’s history. Portland Museum

For a unique chance to learn more about a shipping port city soaked in a rich history, the Portland Museum would be a great place to start. Located at 2308 Portland Ave. Louisville KY 40212, the museum was founded in 1978 by elementary school teachers. The museum grew from a single classroom to a stand alone location, with two rotating galleries and both permanent and temporary locations. Frazier Museum

Frazier Museum was founded in 2004 by a philanthropist named Owsley Brown Frazier. This museum places an emphasis on celebrating Kentucky’s history, but also has permanent European exhibits. There are also traveling exhibits, with one of the more notable ones being Diana: a Celebration which showcased some of the late Princess Diana’s gowns and jewelry. Peace of the Earth

Peace of the Earth is a shop located in NuLu and began as a hobby. Leslie Delgado’s passion has expanded to a storefront that sells fair trade jewelry, children’s items, accessories, soaps, and eco friendly gifts. Speed Art Museum

The Speed Art Museum was founded in 1925 by Hattie Bishop Speed in memoriam to her husband, J.B. Speed. Over the years, the Speed Art Museum has become a home to traveling exhibits as well as permanent pieces such as Rembrandt’s Portrait of a Woman. The museum offers free admission to students attending the University of Louisville and offers an experience that all ages can appreciate.
